CEP America Presents Webinar: How Physician Leadership and a Population Health Strategy Boosted Savings for a Fixed-Budget Hospital

A ground-breaking initiative involving hospitals in Maryland, state executives and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is the topic of the latest Modern Healthcare Webinar Series.

Sponsored by CEP America, one of the nation’s largest providers of clinical management and staffing solutions, How Physician Leadership and a Population Health Strategy Boosted Savings for a Fixed-Budget Hospital, will be held on Tuesday Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PST. The hour-long webinar highlights the experience of Saint Agnes Hospital, a 251-bed full-service teaching hospital in Baltimore.

Under the state’s initiative, all Maryland hospitals have volunteered to operate on global budgets through 2019. In order to succeed on a global budget, Saint Agnes Hospital’s strategy was to: 1) improve population health by helping patients manage chronic conditions and reduce preventable illness; and 2) manage care transitions in order to decrease preventable admissions and readmissions. As Saint Agnes’ Emergency Department management partner, CEP America is helping to develop and implement the global budget initiative.

Presenters for the webinar include Adrian Long, MD, former Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Saint Agnes, David Birdsall, MD, Vice President of Operations, Pascal Crosley, DO, Vice President of Practice Development, and Benjamin Frizner, MD, Medical Director of the Long-Term Ventilator Unit at FutureCare Irvington, all three are partners of CEP America.
Webinar attendees will learn how global budget organizations can successfully boost savings and improve population health strategies as well as how to:
  • Recognize the importance of physician leadership.
  • Understand what it takes to succeed on a global budget.
  • Learn how to implement successful population health strategies.
  • Discover the benefits of partnering with a democratic physician group.
