Douglas Brosnan, M.D.

Douglas Brosnan

completed his Bachelor's of Science in Physiology, Minor in Chicana/o Studies, Cum Laude, at the University of California Los Angeles. In 2003 he received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College in San Francisco. And in 2005 he received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine, where he also completed his residency in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He writes and speaks quite often, and has worked as a Legislative Analyst and currently works as an Editor for the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. He recently participated in the California Medical Association's Council on Legislation, as well as the Hospital Based Practice Forum. He is currently on the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians Board of Directors.

Jay Kaplan, M.D., FACEP

Jay Kaplan

joined the CEP America Partnership in 2003 as the Director of Service Excellence. Nationally recognized as an expert in the clinical areas of emergency medicine and service excellence, Dr. Kaplan provides customer service and operational consultations to CEP America contracted emergency departments. In addition, Dr. Kaplan is the Medical Director for the Studer Group, an organization that provides operational and service excellence consultation to hospitals nationwide, and the Physician Advisor for Press Ganey Associates, the nation's largest patient satisfaction survey company. He is also a staff physician in the Emergency Department at Marin General Hospital. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Harvard University and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, graduating Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. Dr. Kaplan completed his residency and fellowship at the University of California, Davis - Sacramento Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. Dr. Kaplan has received numerous awards including Outstanding Speaker of the Year in 2003 from the American College of Emergency Physicians, and Physician of the Year in 2001 by the New Jersey State Society of Physicians Assistants.

Bing Pao, M.D.

Bing Pao

has been with CEP America since 1999. He attended the University of Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he graduated with highest distinction. He then went on to study medicine at Duke University, and completed his residency at the University of California, San Diego. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, as well as Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is a reviewer of the Journal of Emergency Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and on the Advisory Board of Stemedica Cell Technologies, Inc. While at Palomar - Pomerado Hospitals in Escondido, California, he has been the Residency Coordinator, the Billing Reimbursement Director, and the Assistant Director of the Emergency Department. In 2005 and 2006 Bing was given the "Top Doc" Award by San Diego Magazine.

Ghazala Sharieff, M.D., FACEP

Ghazala Sharieff

joined CEP America in 1998 and is a staff physician at Pomerado Hospital and Palomar Medical Center. Dr. Sharieff received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from Michigan State University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Stanford University, followed by a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children's Hospital and Health Center in San Diego. Dr. Sharieff is on the ACEP Pediatric Emergency Medicine Committee and is Medical Director at San Diego Rady Children's Hospital Emergency Care Center. She also served as the Co-Chair of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) Education Committee and was a member of the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). Dr. Sharieff is an Assistant Editor for the pediatric section of the Journal of Emergency Medicine and an Editorial Board Member for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Practice. She has also been published in a number of journals and lectures nationally and internationally on a wide array of topics, dealing primarily with pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Sharieff is also a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
