Executive Leadership

Wesley A. Curry, MD, FACEP is the Chief Executive Officer of CEP America, setting and leading the strategic direction and vision for the company. Dr. Curry joined CEP America in 1982 and was named to the CEP America Board of Directors in 1997, where he served as chairman for eight years. In addition to his role as CEO, he works as a staff physician at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center emergency department in Pomona, CA., where he has served since 1980. Dr. Curry is a member of the California Medical Association and the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, where he served as president from 1989 to 1990. Originally from Dallas, Dr. Curry received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He received his medical degree from Harvard University Medical School in Boston, MA., and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California Hospital and Medical Center in San Francisco.


Mark Spiro, MD, FACEP is the President and COO of CEP America, responsible for the company’s operational performance. Dr. Spiro joined CEP America in 1986 as the Medical Director of St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA; but currently he works as a staff physician in the emergency department at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, CA. Dr. Spiro is a member of the California Medical Association, the San Diego Medical Society, and the American College of Emergency Physicians. He received his bachelor of science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his medical degree from Michigan State University. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Spiro has served on the CEP America Board of Directors and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.


Ted Kloth, MD, FACEP
is a senior partner and Chief Business Officer of CEP America, responsible for the company’s business development efforts. For the past 24 years, Dr. Kloth has also worked as a staff physician at the John Muir Medical Center emergency department in Walnut Creek, CA. Dr. Kloth joined CEP America in 1976 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2003 to 2006. He obtained his MD degree from Tulane University and is an American Board of Emergency Medicine Diplomat, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical society, a member of the AMA and AOA, and an American College of Emergency Physicians Fellow. Dr. Kloth’s expertise in emergency physician group integration assures a smooth transition for new emergency physicians into the CEP America culture and organizational structure. His writings have been published in medical journals and he has appeared on television interview programs.


Prentice Tom, M.D., FACEP is Chief Medical Officer at CEP America, overseeing demonstrated performance improvement programs and the development of Best Practices. Dr. Tom is a Senior Partner who joined CEP America in 1993, currently working as a staff physician in the Emergency Department at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. Before joining CEP America, Dr. Tom was a faculty member at Stanford University Medical School, Division of Emergency Medicine. He has participated in numerous medical organizations, including the International Medical Corps, Bosnia and Emergency International, where he served as long-term project coordinator for the China Project. Dr. Tom holds a bachelor's degree in Medical Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he co-founded the Asian Health Organization. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and was a Kaiser Fellow in Health Policy and Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
